Description

Distilled in 2013 and bottled by North Star Spirits, this heavily peated single malt hails from Staoisha — the name given to Bunnahabhain’s more robust, smoky spirit. Aged in a refill hogshead for 11 years, the whisky allows the full personality of the spirit to shine with restrained cask influence. The nose opens with salted leather, dying bonfire, and a wisp of menthol, while the palate delivers citrus oils, tarry smoke, roasted nuts, and bright pepper. The finish is long and smouldering, with chocolate, soot, and Islay brine lingering to the end.

While Bunnahabhain is renowned for its elegant, unpeated house style, this expression reveals a wilder side of the distillery — a glimpse into its versatility and a celebration of maritime peat.

Bottled at a natural 58.2% ABV, non-chill filtered and natural in colour, this limited release of just 275 bottles is a rare opportunity to experience Bunnahabhain’s peated spirit in its purest form.
