BNS Teaninich 9-year-old 2016 Cask Masters

Teaninich is one of the most technologically unique distilleries in Scotland, famously being one of the only sites to use a modern mash filter instead of a traditional mash tun to ensure a crystal-clear wort and a distinctive "Eastern" profile of green tea and incense. Distilled in January 2016 and matured for nine years, this expression was finished in a single first-fill Vintage Port barrique, which transformed the spirit by layering tangy red fruits and dark chocolate over its crisp Highland backbone. This limited release of 307 bottles from cask #2313517/2016 opens with rich aromas of red berries, plums, and a hint of cocoa, leading to a sweet, rounded palate of ripe cherries and honeyed spice that concludes in a long, warming finish of chili-spiced chocolate and cloves.
