WITL - Craigellachie 2014 - 10 years old - FF Rivesaltes wine barrique

Distilled in October 2014 and bottled in October 2024 by independent bottler Whisky Is The Limit (WITL), this single cask expression spent a decade maturing in a first-fill Rivesaltes cask (Cask #22034007/2014). Bottled at cask strength (54.6% ABV), non-chill filtered, and free from added colouring, this limited release comprises only 420 bottles.

On the nose, it presents aromas of ripe tropical fruits, honeyed sweetness, and subtle citrus, underpinned by Craigellachie's signature character with meaty undertones. The palate is full-bodied and oily, revealing flavours of pineapple, caramelised apple, and fig. The Rivesaltes cask imparts a harmonious sweetness that complements the distillery's robust malt character, offering notes of oak, vanilla, dried fruits, and a gentle touch of smoke.

Craigellachie, established in 1891 in the heart of Speyside, is renowned for its muscular and sulphurous style, a result of its traditional worm-tub condensers and long fermentation process. While often overshadowed by its Speyside neighbours, Craigellachie offers a distinctive profile that appeals to those seeking a more robust single malt experience.
