From Speyside's most architecturally extraordinary distillery: a 9-year-old Tormore, matured in a Fresh Oloroso Hogshead for a richly sherried character. Nearly all of Tormore's output disappears into the Chivas Regal and Ballantine's empire — single cask releases like this are a genuine rarity.

Tormore Distillery was built in 1958–60 to a design by Alexander Cullen, with input from Sir Albert Richardson, former president of the Royal Academy of Arts — its granite facade, copper rotors and musical clock tower (which plays four Scottish tunes every quarter hour) earned it listed building status in 1986, making it the first post-war Scottish distillery to be so honoured. Now owned by Elixir Distillers since 2022, most of its 3.7 million litres a year feeds Chivas Regal and Ballantine's blends.
Nine years in a Fresh Oloroso Hogshead have coaxed out rich sherry character: the nose opens with icing sugar, barley and sweet oak with a hint of sherry; the palate is firmly sherried — bold tannin and bittersweet oak; the finish long and sweet with a wisp of struck match.
EXP1093, 50% ABV, natural colour, non-chill filtered.
