Description

Bunnahabhain was founded in 1881 on Islay's remote north-east coast, building its reputation on an unusual, unpeated style in a region famous for peat smoke. Staoisha — named after the nearby loch that feeds the distillery's water supply — is its intensely peated counterpart, distilled in small batches to deliver everything Bunnahabhain's flagship holds back. After seven years, the spirit received its finishing touches in a Fresh Oloroso Barrique. The nose brings rich BBQ smoke, smoked peppers, brine and raisins; the palate is sweet smoke, dry and earthy with oak, the finish long and dry with meaty smoke lingering. EXP1090, 50% ABV, natural colour, non-chill filtered.
