Description

This release successfully bridges the gap between Islay’s rugged coastline and the soft elegance of Malaga, having spent the final 2 years of its 15-year maturation in a Malaga cask. The nose is dense with "generic" tarry Islay fishing ropes, walnut oil, and maple syrup, with intriguing twists of black sesame seeds and miso syrup. On the palate, a thick and oily texture delivers a rich spice of date and ginger puree, salty dark soy sauce, and the tannic bitterness of black tea. The finish is long and punchy, evolving into notes of cloves, mace, and crushed capers with a lingering, sweet-salty smoke. A total of 342 bottles were produced for this limited release.
