This 12-year-old Speyside single malt is a testament to the elegant, floral spirit of Linkwood, reimagined through a bold finish in a first-fill Port wine barrique. Bottled at a precise 51.6% ABV, it strikes a sophisticated balance between the distillery’s delicate orchard fruit character and the rich, dark berry intensity of seasoned Portuguese oak.

Linkwood is famously meticulous about keeping its environment consistent to keep the whisky character intact; according to industry rumour, a former distillery manager once refused to allow cobwebs to be cleared from the rafters for fear that changing the micro-ecology would alter the spirit. We cannot confirm if this really happened, but we can confirm that this bottling—distilled in 2013 and matured for twelve years—is as real a Linkwood in its character as they have ever been. Finished in a single Port barrique which introduced deep hues and a velvety layer of red fruits and creamy nuttiness, this limited release of 344 bottles opens with intense aromas of ripe berries and dark chocolate, leading to a medium-long, dry finish where lingering oak spice and sweet port notes create a complex experience.
