Description

Distilled on 5 July 2006 at the Glen Elgin Distillery and bottled in 2020 by Claxton’s as part of their Exploration Series, this Speyside single malt spent 14 full years in a single first-fill sherry butt (cask #2110-802114). Bottled at 50% ABV, with no chill filtration or added colouring, this limited edition yielded only 291 bottles.

The whisky opens with aromas of ripe dark fruits, caramel, and gentle spice. The palate is dense and expressive, offering sherried sweetness, nutmeg, treacle, and roasted nuts. A long, warming finish brings lingering spice and a touch of oak polish, highlighting the richness of the cask.

Glen Elgin — founded in 1898 just outside the town of Elgin — is a quiet force in Speyside. Mostly known for its role in blends like White Horse, its single malt is rarely seen on its own. In this independent release, the distillery’s fruit-driven, elegant profile takes centre stage, offering a rare glimpse into one of the region’s truely unique spirits.
