Distilled in 2006 at the esteemed Linkwood distillery in Elgin, this expression was fully matured in an Oloroso sherry butt (Cask No. 23) and bottled without chill filtration or added colour. The nose reveals inviting aromas of sweet apple pastries, zesty citrus peels, creamy grist, and fruit-laden flapjack. On the palate, notes of boiled sweets and honeyed malt intertwine with buttery oak and soft, sweet spices. The finish is enduring, characterized by malt loaf, baking spices, and aged oak.
Linkwood distillery, nestled in the heart of Speyside and established in 1821, is famed for its refined and floral house style — a favourite of blenders for over a century. Yet here, under the bold influence of a full-term Oloroso sherry butt, its elegance is transformed into something darker, richer, and deeply textured. This is Linkwood in full voice — confident, mature, and utterly compelling.
A whisky for those who appreciate the layered dialogue between spirit and cask over nearly two decades of quiet evolution.
