NN Hungaricons 1st Edition - Highland Park 15yo

This is our first bottling. It doesn’t follow trends. It does’t want to prove a point. It does only one thing: it’s unapologetically honest. 

This is a peat-forward Highland Park giving unique opportunity to taste the true DNA of the legendary distillery raw and untamed. A rare find: cask #94 clearly stood out of its sister casks with its strong presence. Powerful and elegant, like a floored Aston Martin.

Being a production secret for years, now articles write about the distillery using unpeated purchased malt from the mainland to keep up with the increased production. To keep a consistent profile, they cranked-up the smoke of the locally malted barley to 35-40 PPM. When mixed, they give the lightly peated Highland Park we all know. This particular cask was filled with the distillate of the locally malted barley only - carrying the concentrated distillery character. Aromatic Orkney peat in its purest form. Herbal and sophisticated. The first chapter of the Hungaricons series reveals the secret of Highland Park.

Notes: 

Strong aromatic smoke of dried herbs on the nose followed by acacia honeycomb and fresh herbs on the palate - that delicate smoke always remains present. Very intense delivery by 60.2% ABV. Water only smoothens the experience, does not reduce it.
