We have partnered with Salim from Whisky Is The Limit to bring to you this very unique whisky. An Arran 28 years old, Cask 374, aged in a Refill Bourbon Hogshead and produced in 1996. This bottle is a unique opportunity to own a piece of the history of the distillery. It perfectly contains the typical character of the Arran distillery. To date this is the oldest known bottled Arran.

On the nose, elegant and well-matured. Old yet understated white oak notes with dried flowers, candied citrus and rich maltiness. A welcoming Arran-hug Its age shows more after some little time. Enter beeswax, earthy cedar, honeysuckle and acacia blossom, with a touch of candlewax. The white oak sweetens with time, maybe a hint of coconut hiding in the background. A burst of flavour.
The palate has a remarkably dense mouthfeel. The arrival is refreshingly lively. The complex pollen notes develop into austere florality which in turn morphs into dried apricots. Fruit essential oils. Yellow- and white-fleshed stone fruits, fresh dates. All wrapped in a softly sweet malty backbone. The oak is restrained on the palate. Providing a caramel and cocoa butter base and a tiny pinch of clove - spicy warmth. True to the distillery character at a masterful level.
The finish is long and eventful. Resinous and woody flavours transform back into stone fruits, then malty-floral notes. A bit like sucking on a peach pit. The candlewax comes back, with waxy pears and dried apples. Again, there's the cedary earthiness, which, along with the heather and savoury vanilla, signals the considerable age. Overall, an outstandingly beautiful maturation. The cask was an ideal companion for the rounded, friendly spirit, not overwhelming it, but adding complexity and layers, while the spirit is able to retain the flavour dynamics. For me, the rich mouthfeel and the lively intensity of the fruits are the greatest virtues of this whisky.
