Port Dundas was one of Glasgow's great grain distilleries — until Diageo shuttered it in 2010 and demolished the site in 2011. Single grains like this 22-year-old Bourbon Barrel bottling are all that remain.

Port Dundas Distillery was founded in 1811 by Daniel McFarlane on the highest ground in Glasgow, beside the Forth & Clyde Canal. One of the founding members of the Distillers Company Limited in 1877, it grew to become the largest grain distillery in Scotland — its spirit feeding Diageo's most celebrated blends: Johnnie Walker, J&B, Haig, Bell's and White Horse among them. Diageo announced its closure in 2009; Port Dundas stopped production in 2010, and the site was demolished in 2011.
Distilled on 31 March 2003, this single grain spent 22 years in a Bourbon Barrel — long enough to develop the hallmark richness of truly aged grain whisky. The nose opens with strong vanilla and banana chips with apricot jam. The palate is soft and sweet with more jam notes and gentle oak. The finish is long and oaky with a hint of tannin and corn.
EXP1147, 50% ABV, natural colour, non-chill filtered.
